Cinnamon Rolls

Dear diary,

I really hate it when I don't have any pictures to show from the actual making/baking/cooking process. Seriously, I do. I very much enjoy the step-by-step photos I see in other blogs; they're so explanatory and speak so much louder than words.

But.... when I made these cinnamon rolls I had no idea that they'll become a huge success. I focused on the recipe and not photography, therefore I have no step-by-step pictures to show :(

Here I give you today the ingredients and the steps to follow. Hopefully, when I bake these rolls again, I'll take some pictures and edit this post!

Ingredients (20 medium size cinnamon rools)
2 envelopes of dry yeast
warm water
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup warm milk
1/2 cup melted butter
1 egg
pinch of salt
flour, almost 5 cups

For the filling
melted butter
2 tbsp cinnamon
2 cups brown sugar

For the glaze
confectioners sugar
water

  1. Add yeast to the warm water and let it stand for some minutes to get activated.
  2. Add the warm milk, melted butter, sugar and the egg and mix well all ingredients.
  3. Gradually add the flour (with salt) to the milk mixture and make a smooth and elastic dough
  4. Let it rise until double in size, for about an hour.
  5. In floured surface roll the dough until 1,5 cm thick.
  6. Brush the dough with the melted butter.
  7. Sprinkle the sugar-cinnamon filling evenly and roll the dough.
  8. Slice the roll in 2-3 cm thick pieces.
  9. Arrange them in a baking pan, allowing some distance between them.
  10. Let them rise for about an hour (they now must have touched one another).
  11. Bake in a 350F (180C) for about 15-20 minutes.
  12. Prepare the glaze while you let the rolls cool down a bit.
  13. Drizzle the glaze on the rolls and serve your friends and family!
The smell of cinnamon will fill in the air and the baked sugar will "caramelize" your morning!

Enjoy!

Yours,
Jennoula

  2. Oh goodness. I could never do the step by step thing. I spend hours getting two decent pictures of the final product. I don't know how some of you do the step by step thing! So I'm totally okay with the lack of those photos here. :)

They look great! Nice and soft and cinnamony. Perfect for any time of day!

  3. Jenny, htan apithana!! it was my first time making cinnamon rolls, and also I am not the best baker but these turned out great! they were gone in a matter of hours. I was just a bit confused how big/long to roll out the dough before putting the sugar and rolling but I managed it, and got 20 pieces out of it like you said! I also wasn't sure what to do with the sugar glaze- I figured out later that I had to wait for them to get cold and for the glaze to be thick so it can stay white. I have been asked to make them again by my family and friends! thanks so much for sharing!

    1. Hi Melina! I'm so glad you liked them! Yes, they need to cool down a bit before glazing them, and it's an easy recipe too, I agree! Many thanks for stopping by!
